Heartworm season is once again upon us. Heartworm disease is spread from dog to dog (and cats too!) by mosquitos. If your dog (or cat) is not on a monthly heartworm preventative please see your veterinarian and have a heartworm antigen test performed. This is an inexpensive and accurate test and, if it is negative, it is safe to start your pet on a preventative. Heartworm disease can be incredibly debilitating and even fatal.
