If you think your dog is paparazzi ready this Halloween in their safe and comfortable costume then get downtown to the Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade this Saturday, October 25th. You don’t need to pre-register and entry is free – although a $5 charitable donation is suggested. This year’s parade will be sponsored by Purina Beggin’ with contestants competing for thousands of dollars in prizes.

Runway competition begins at Noon. A parade of all contestants and spectators will follow after Best In Show is announced. Contestant and Raffle winners must be present at the end of the competition to receive their prize or it will be donated to charity.

For more information about the Dog Halloween Parade or the events that follow visit the Thompson Square Dog Run’s website.

The staff at Hudson Animal Hospital want to offer some tips on choosing a safe and comfortable costume for your dog: It should not constrict his movement, hearing, breathing or barking; Be sure the outfit isn’t too big or too loose; Avoid any small dangling objects. Also, be sure to try on costumes before the big day to be sure there is no signs of distress or sensitivities. If your dog seems distressed, consider letting him wear a bandanna or an embellished leash. We wish you and your furry friend luck in the contest and would love you to share your Halloween costumes on our Facebook Page.
